The work of the FBC has been recognized nationally by such organizations as: the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.  Most recently the FBC has received the following recognitions:
 
  • March 2011 - The Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, recognized 36 government initiatives as Bright Ideas recipients, of which the FBC was one.
  •  Pioneer Institute’s Better Government Competition - received Special Recognition in 2011 (There were 5 finalist and 4 Special Recognitions out of 200 applications)
 
The FBC continues to grow and currently has a membership of 50+/- local governments and authorities.  In addition, we expanded the number of service areas from 14 service areas in FY09, to 18 service areas in FY10 and currently have 20 service areas.
