The City of Titusville is located in Brevard County on central Florida’s east coast. Nestled along the Indian River, Titusville is at the doorstep to some of Florida’s greatest treasures. The Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and the Canaveral National Seashore are all within miles of downtown. Conveniently located in close proximity to three international airports, Titusville is a short thirty minute ride from downtown Orlando and the area’s major tourist attractions.
Titusville is a thriving community experiencing significant residential and commercial growth. From excellent schools, a new state of the art 371,000 square-foot hospital, numerous recreational facilities and a large municipal marina, Titusville offers its residents all the amenities of much larger cities while still maintaining its small town look and feel. Today, our historic downtown is home to a variety of specialty shops and dining establishments that carry on a tradition of friendly, small town-merchants offering quality goods and services in a relaxed environment along the Indian River shoreline.
The City of Titusville was incorporated in 1887 and has a City Council/City Manager form of government. In 2005 the City had a population of approximately 43,000 and a staff of 515 employees with an annual operating budget of approximately $82 Million. The City covers approximately 27 square miles and is the County Seat for Brevard County.
Under the leadership of the City Council, the city has developed a Strategic Plan and Balanced Scorecard to set and monitor performance measures in the areas of growth, service and technology. This two-year cycle of budgeting and strategic planning has helped the city staff focus its time and energies in addressing the Council’s areas of emphasis and strategic goals.
